Acting Minister of the Trade and Industry Ministry, Avni Kastrati, hosted Canadian Deputy Russ Hiebert, who was accompanied by his counterpart Peter Stock to discuss investment opportunities.
Initially, Acting Minister Avni Kastrati informed the Canadian Deputy Mr. Hiebert for investment and industry opportunities that provides Kosovoand about doing business here.
Mr.Kastrati said to guests that Kosovo offers favourable conditions for investments. Kosovo has low tax regime, labour market potential, liberal market that is made possible by many trade agreements with most industrial powerful countries. At the same time, Kosovo’s geographic and strategic position are preconditions for investors who express their readiness to invest in Kosovo”, said Acting Minister Kastrati.
Present at this meeting was as well Kosovo’s Assembly Deputy, Ramiz Kelmendi, who is also the owner of business company “Elkos Group”, who informed guests on Kosovo legislation framework in field of foreign trade and investments, since he was Deputy from the previous Assembly as well. He emphasised Kosovo opportunities and favourable investment conditions, referring to national legal framework and Kosovar’s social and cultural habit to always respect foreign investors, especially those who comes from the Kosovo’s friend countries.
Further, guests were informed from Kreshnik Thaçi, Senior Officer for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, for the Kosovo favourable taxis, free trade agreements, free economic zones, cheap labour force and other commerce recourses that have Kosovo.
Meantime, Russ Hiebert, Canadian Deputy and representative of the Trade and Commerce Commission at the Canadian Parliament, expressed his interest for the trade cooperation opportunities between the Kosovo-Canadian businesses. “Opportunities and offers that provides Kosovo to foreign investments I will present to Canadian businesses, who are a potential to invest in areas of businesses and Kosovo”, said Deputy Hiebert, while he expressed his interest for the types of privatisation of the Public Owned Companies of Kosovo, as in: Port and Telecommunication of Kosovo, Trepca, new energy project “Kosova e Re”, and many other projects with interest for Canadian investors.
Mr. Kastrati, although stated that Kosovo institution, in particularly the Ministry of Trade and Industry is working on creating more favourable conditions for Foreign Investors.
