The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), respectively the Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), on the occasion of the World Day of Tourism organized the conference “Diplomacy and Tourism”.
At the opening of the conference, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Bajram Hasani, said that Kosovo's membership in to the World Tourism Organization would be the same as membership in UNESCO and other international organizations.
"Kosovo as a developing country can use tourism as the most potential sector for economic development in general. In this regard, the Government of Kosovo, respectively the Ministry of Trade and Industry is paying particular attention to the activities related to the continuous improvement of the business climate and the removal of businesses barriers, supporting and developing the private sector with a special emphasis on the development of the tourism sector, where we aim to reach a sustainable tourism system, improve infrastructure, tourism development, as well employment and social welfare ", stressed Minister Hasani .
Also, Minister Hasani added that among his first priorities as Minister, he will the establishment the institutional structure, such as make re-functionalization of the tourism department, improve legal infrastructure and capacity building, reactivate the Brezovica project and invite investors to invest in this project.
While, the General Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador Albert Prenkaj, said that the Kosovo can be identified as a very important area for tourism development and promotion.
According to him, from the perspective of foreign policy, the tourism development in Kosovo should be seen as part of a region, respectively as a common regional tourism.
The conference aims through diplomacy to present promotion opportunities of Kosovo tourism, and see the possibility to increase Kosovo capacities in the field of tourism.
