The Minister of Trade and Industry, Bajram Hasani, during his official visit to Washington was hosted by the World’s Bank Representatives.
Minister Hasani was hosted by Javier Suarez, World Bank Trade and Competition Manager for Europe and Central Asia Region, Damien Shiels and Daria Laverentieva, official for the Western Balkans region, Europe and Central Asia.
On this occasion, Minister Hasani thanked the representatives of the World Bank for their consistent support to Kosovo, in particular to the Ministry of Trade and Industry. He highly appreciated the engagement and great commitment of the World Bank. According to Minister Hasani, the World Bank is one of the main pillars of the development of the Republic of Kosovo
At this meeting, it was discussed about the faster beginning of implementation of the Project for Increasing Competitiveness and Export Promotion, which amounts about 14.5 million euros, and which will help Kosovo’s institutions in terms of drafting and developing development strategies and policies, create and develop an operational environment for enterprise development, and further consolidation of public-private dialogue.
Investments in trade and communication sector were also discussed. A project is worth about $ 15 million.
Whereas World Bank representatives confirmed to Minister Hasani the support for Kosovo in regard to projects that will help improve doing business environment.
In this meeting were also discussed Kosovo’s recent developments in trade and industry, the progress made in implementation of projects funded by the World Bank, also financing of new projects.
