The Minister of Trade and Industry Bajram Hasani signed an agreement with the IFC-Swiss Government in an amount of 2.3 million dollars for improving doing business environment through reforms in business inspection system and simplification of administrative procedures.
Minister Hasani said that this support is very important because it will serve Kosovo to improve business environment.
“This agreement is very important for us, since is including several MTI priority areas, in particularly doing business where the MTI is heading the task force. Another area important for us is to attract foreign investment, for what are we have already approved the law on strategic investments, and on this behalf we are drafting the strategy document on Foreign Direct Investments”, pointed out Hasani.
Minister highlighted that the support of IFC and Swiss Government will have an impact on business inspection reforms.
"The project aim is to completely reform the inspection, for what we already have past the concept paper on inspectorate since in our country today operates 42 inspectorates in total, and this number must be reduced in 15’, said minister Hasani.
According to Hasani, these 2.3 million dollars will serve Kosovo to gain experience from the European Union countries and same time to undertake reforms.
“I am convinced that this support given to Kosovo it will serve to gain best practice from the European Union countries and will serve to better coordinate Local and Central Inspectorates authorities. It is worth pointing out that this $ 2.3 million grant is a non-refundable loan and for that I want to thank the Swiss Government for helping us in our policies and to push the processes forward and to create an attractive place for foreign investors " , said Hasani.
While Thomas Lubeck, IFC Regional Manager for Central and Southeast Europe, said that their goal is to improve the investment climate in Kosovo.
"We will work with the Ministry of Trade and Industry on regulatory reform, helping to increase transparency and attract investment in Kosovo, to boost the economic growth and job creation," said Lubeck.
The Swiss Government has contributed $ 2.3 million to the Wider Climate Investment Project, to be implemented by 2020. The project is in line with the objectives of the Swiss Cooperation Strategy for Kosovo 2017-2020 on establishing sustainable business environment for businesses and increase investment.
