Minister Shala and the Ambassador of Austria agree to deepen the cooperation between the two countries

Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, received the Ambassador of Austria to Kosovo, Gernot Pfandler, in a meeting where they discussed the deepening of cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Shala required from the Ambassador Pfandler for Austria to increase their investments in Kosovo, considering Austria as one of the countries that has assisted Kosovo in important processes.

The Minister also informed the Ambassador on the trade exchanges between Kosovo and Austria over the years by presenting the priorities of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Minister Shala stated that the focus is on attracting foreign investors, pointing out that there are changes being made to the Law on Strategic Investment, in order for the foreign investors to invest more easily in Kosovo.

“My focus is also on working on consumer protection, which I consider being an important department. I have increased the number of on-site inspections, always having the customer as a priority”, stated Minister Shala.

Ambassador Pfandler of Austria expressed his concern regarding the 100 percent tax.

The Minister confirmed to him that the tax will not be removed.

Also, Minister Shala informed the Ambassador regarding the products entering Kosovo, by telling him that they should refer to Kosovo in the constitutional term on the labelling, otherwise the goods will be returned at the border.
