Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Fadil Arifi, met today the CDF (Community Development Fund) representatives, Nermin Mahmuti – Executive Director, and Gramen Taraku – Project Manager, Via Dinarica in Kosovo. CDF is one of the beneficiaries of EU grants in the field of tourism development and promotion, namely of the Regional Cooperation Council. MTI is coordinating and closely cooperating with RCC in the development of the tourism sector. The meeting was also attended by the Advisor to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mervan Rexhepi, Head of Tourism Division and other officials from the Department of Tourism and the Department for European Integration within MTI.
Initially, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Fadil Arifi, welcomed the attendees and congratulated the CDF for the grant received by offering full cooperation in the development and promotion of tourism in Kosovo.
Mrs Lumturije Geci then briefed CDF representatives on the achievements and plans of the Tourism Department and informed them of the areas of cooperation by ensuring that there will be close cooperation and continued support for them.
Nermin Mahmuti – Executive Director of CDF, made a presentation on CDF projects and activities in the past and the plans for the future. On the other hand, Gramen Taraku – Project Manager, Via Dinarica in Kosovo, presented the plan and activities of the project for the development and promotion of tourism in Kosovo, which include the three Western Balkan economies as a cross-border project between Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro, namely the extension of the paths of Via Dinarica on a surface area of 50 km, a project involving four municipalities such as Peja, Deçani, Gjakova and Juniku. The project commenced in November 2018 and will be completed in June 2019.
During the meeting, they also discussed the activities of the Tourism Expert Group from Kosovo, as members of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
The meeting was concluded by commitments for continued cooperation for the development and promotion of Kosovo's tourism.
