Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, chaired the ninth meeting of the National Council for Economic Development (ECD), in which was addressed the work of this council and were held discussion about the next steps.
Minister Shala said that since the re-functionalization of this Council, which is chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, the participating institutions together with the business community have been very active in the joint efforts to address with priority all major challenges and to implement comprehensive reforms aimed at improving the environment of doing business, eliminating barriers, strengthening Kosovo's enterprises and attracting foreign direct investment in the country.
"Given the fact that the Government of Kosovo has declared 2019 as the" YEAR OF ECONOMY "we as institutions that participate in this public-private forum will provide our contribution to raise and discuss many issues that will have a positive impact regarding the economic sphere, in increasing the business activity, increasing foreign direct investments in the country and ultimately in improvement of the life of the citizens of Kosovo", said Minister Shala.
Whereas the Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, said that this year will be the year of economic development in the country. The Prime Minister requested from his subordinates to increase their dedication, especially in the field of attracting the investors.
"2018 has been the year of legal infrastructure, but 2019 shall be the year of economy. Although in Kosovo we have the most favorable tax policy in the region, we want to encourage the investors. We must, altogether, continue to implement the fiscal reform. We have ahead of us the issue of informality and we must together handle this issue. The Labor Law was approved and it is submitted to the Kosovo Assembly, and what is important is that we have found the formula for maternity leave which does not cause a burden for the entrepreneurs", said the Prime Minister.
