Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, at the “Information Conference on Construction Products Legislation” emphasized that after the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement and the entry into force have opened the way for the products of the Republic of Kosovo to be placed on the European market.
Minister Shala emphasized: "We, as a ministry, are committed to increase support for this industry, in market research and recognition, design and support of manufacturers for certifying their products with special subsidy schemes through KIESA, in order to increase competition to access external markets and improve the balance of trade. Also, the establishment and functioning of pillars of quality infrastructure are important requirements arising from the SAA (Article 80), where Kosovo should take the necessary measures to gradually achieve compliance with EU legislation, said Minister Shala.
He added that in this regard, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has recently changed the legal framework for conformity assessment, standardization, accreditation and metrology, and at the same time we are aligning sectoral legislation to the fields that are MTI's competence by focusing also on its implementation, and by engaging in enhancing the professional capacities and services of pillars of the quality infrastructure.
Once again, Minister Shala reiterated that Kosovo has made a major step forward and with the adoption of the Law on Construction Products, which was approved in November 2018, and will soon come into force, where will be regulated the pillars of the quality infrastructure in the construction field.
And finally, Minister Shala has explained that this law is only part of a wider development process that we need to go through that it is likely to take time to complete it, but if we implement it properly, this law can be an important guide to help us in this journey.
