The Ministry of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the European Union-funded project “Free Movement of Goods”, in the framework of implementation of the Regulations on Elevator Safety and Elevators in Use, has organized a one-day workshop on the topics: Rules and current Practices on safety of elevators in Kosovo; The Role and Importance of Elevator Maintenance – Introducing the requirements of ISO 9001 on improving the existing situation; as well as the main tasks to be performed in improving the maintenance of elevators in Kosovo.
This workshop covered the topics deriving from the Regulation 05/2018 on Safety of Elevators in Use which obliges economic operators (maintainers) who perform elevator maintenance services to have training according to the requirements of standard SK EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Within this topic, Slovenian expert Ivan Bozhic, engaged by the project "Free Movement of Goods", presented the practices of raising the quality management system and the implementation of the SK EN ISO 9001 standard to maintenance service providers for elevators highlight the benefits that this standard offers in providing services to the clients.
Certified participants are the owners of elevators; maintainers; representatives from the Ministry of Public Administration, who are responsible for the elevators in the institutions; as well as representatives from the Labour Inspectorate.
At the end, were also summarized the conclusions such as: fulfilment of legal obligations by all stakeholders (respective inspectorates, inspection bodies appointed by MTI, maintainers and owners of elevators) to be safe in daily life when using elevators, and the operationalization of the electronic database (elevators register) and the urgent involvement of municipal inspectorates in the implementation of the regulation.
