The Minister of Trade and Industry, Vesel Krasniqi, closely monitored the Market Inspectorate during the verification of the heavy scales performed by the Kosovo Metrology Agency, before the start of the harvest season.
Minister Krasniqi announced that this verification is being done in the continuation of consumer protection, which according to him, is the top priority of MTI.
"Today we were at a business with the Market Inspectorate and the Metrology Inspectorate team to see closely how is going the work for verifying scales, because as you already know we are on the eve of the harvest season and for me it is it is very important that weighting the wheat brought by the farmers to the mill, is accurate. I have said and I am re-emphasizing that among my most important priorities is the consumer protection, and these verifications are being done in the continuation of this, so that the consumer is protected ", said Minister Krasniqi.
The Minister said that these verifications are also in the best interest of the business, because it is important that no one is damaged.
"With my recommendation, since the beginning of this month, the Kosovo Metrology Agency has taken concrete actions to verify the scales of mills, so when the harvest season begins the scales have the accuracy in place. This is also good for businesses, because inaccurate weighing scales can damage the business in measuring the quantity, by causing loss. So for us it is very important that everything is in order. Such verifications will continue and we have a special focus on consumer protection, local producers, support businesses, and at the same time we will also look for quality", said Minister Krasniqi.
While the Chief Executive Officer of the Metrology Agency, Ferki Fejza, said that on the eve of the harvest season, the amount of wheat collection increases and that such a verification is practice.
"I thank the Minister for his commitment for the consumer protection, which is also this inspection within the heavy scales verifying campaign at the wheat collection points at the beginning of the harvest season. In this season, it is usually a practice to verify the scales because at this time the collection points now have the largest amount of work and since the beginning of the month we have started inspecting the scales, when it is known that the peak phase of this activity begins now", said Fejza.
