The General Directorate of Accreditation of Kosovo, which operates within the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, has marked the World Accreditation Day, and the motto of this year is “Accreditation: Supporting the Sustainable Development”.
World Accreditation Day is celebrated every June 9 and is a global initiative aimed at promoting the importance of accreditation.
The General Directorate of Accreditation of Kosovo, in support of market needs and consumer protection, this year has established a new scheme of accreditation for medical laboratories, a scheme that was launched today in honour of this day. Accreditation of medical laboratories has become important especially now, as the management of the current pandemic, including all measures taken to reduce its spread and keep it under control, is based on the results of medical tests, the accuracy and reliability of which has a great economic impact worldwide.
In order to inform the public about the importance of accreditation, with special emphasis on the benefits from accreditation, were distributed information leaflets and a promotional video has been published.
