In a separate statements, the former president of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Safet Gërxhaliu, and the leaving mayor of Vushtrri, Xhafer Tahiri, stated that the procedural delays of the Government have pushed the French company “Akuo Energy” to transfer the investment planned from Kosovo in another country.
The company "Akuo Energy", aims to realize the project of wind energy production of "Çiçaciva" through the branch "Cicavica Wind Farm" L.L.C. The French company, which operates in several countries in the region, has confirmed today to the Ministry that it is NOT withdrawing from the investment project in Kosovo, but there are other projects in the region.
The project was initially submitted at the end of 2018, but the proposing entity submitted the completed application for strategic investment in June 2020. The Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA) has recommended that the project be declared a strategic investment, and the Government has approved the KIESA recommendation in December 2020, but failed to get the consent of the Assembly of the Republic before parliamentary elections of February 2021.
MIET has informed the company "Akuo Energy" that the case will be soon re-processed in the Inter-Ministerial Commission on Strategic Investments, with the participation of new institutions at the central and local level. After the review in the Commission, the case shall be addressed in the Government and in the Assembly of the Republic.
The re-proceeding will pave the way for the realization of the investment in accordance with the legislation in force, especially the norms for state aid – that is, without incentive fees that can be billed to citizens and which are prohibited by the legislation of the European Union and the Republic of Kosovo.
