Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, together with MIET Deputy Secretary, Mr. Irfan Lipovica, have participated in the meeting held with businesses, which are interested in applying to the last call, open to the tourism sector from the EU Single Market Program.
Kosovo at the end of November this year has officially began negotiations for membership in this program, and by taking this status have benefited Kosovar companies which now have the opportunity to benefit from the open announcements of this program.
While negotiations between the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET) and the European Commission are taking place, Kosovar businesses are being given the opportunity to apply in the current calls of this program.
Minister Hajdari stressed that the focus of MIET is to improve the business environment and develop competitiveness, by developing industry, entrepreneurship and trade with a special focus on priority sectors, including the tourism sector.
The Single Market Program is considered as an important mechanism for achieving this goal and it is a commitment for continuing economic integration by bringing Kosovar companies closer to the EU market.
Minister Hajdari emphasized that the Single Market Program aims to strengthen the supervision of the internal market, improve the competitiveness of industry, in particular micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), consumer protection including food safety, improve statistics and improving the financial sector. The Single Market Program will support the aforementioned sectors with a budget of 4.2 billion euros for the period 2021-2027.
The present businesses had the opportunity to discuss openly with Minister Hajdari about the challenges and recent developments for government support in the tourism sector, as well as with the expert engaged in the project assistance program for EU programs, funded by the EU Office in Kosovo.
Minister Hajdari thanked the EU Office in Kosovo for the assistance provided to local businesses and the organization of the event.
