The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, participated in the conference “EU Industry Days 2022”, organized by the European Investors Council (EIC), where the green agenda, industry and digital transformation were discussed.
Minister Hajdari stressed that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo through MIET, has as a priority the recovery of industry in all sectors of socio-economic development, as well as the creation of appropriate mechanisms and infrastructure to facilitate the digital industrial transition to businesses and digitalization of services to increase the capacity, access and efficiency of service delivery through E-government, etc.
Minister Hajdari reiterated that the digital transition is a process that lies not only in the adoption of new technologies, but also the way of understanding a new business model, namely business transformation.
"Digitalisation will be a key factor in the transition of traditional industries and is an effective tool that can be used by business in all processes – operational or business development. Digitalization and information technology have been very successful in increasing business revenue through digital platforms, and thanks to the digital agenda some of the businesses that had many disruptions during the COVID 19 crisis, were able to continue doing business just by digitizing their processes", stressed Minister Hajdari.
In this context, Minister Hajdari informed that the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, based on the European Agenda for Industry, Internal Market, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, as well as the Green Agenda, is working on drafting public policies and in consolidating the clear legal framework, for the promotion and development of industry, entrepreneurship and innovation with a focus on increasing competitiveness, exports and new jobs. She added that with the finalization of the drafting of the industrial policy, a number of innovative technology priorities will be defined, which will be applied in the sectors of the manufacturing industry.
"The interaction between industry, research and innovation and government institutions is our priority for promoting the potential for development of priority sectors, through the transformation of the traditional economy into digital and creative economies such as: a) Information and Communication Technology Sector, digitalization of services; b) Product processing industry and advancement of processing technologies; c) innovations in the development of the creative industry; d) functionalization of innovation and entrepreneurship centres for more development of innovative industrial ideas and projects, as well as e) development of programs for training of the workforce and increase of competencies, in accordance with the needs of the market ", emphasized Minister Hajdari.
Finally, Minister Hajdari concluded the need for more investment in research and development for local industry, citing various research institutes in Europe for the development of new industrial products, in addition to government grants for machinery, certification, digitalization and training launched during 2021, to increase exports.
"This grant assistance in the amount of 9.8 million Euros for businesses is for Kosovo to become a part of the value chain in the region and in the world. “Therefore, It needs a lot of work and challenges for being part of the global value chain, while the ambitions are very high based on the green European agenda", said Minister Hajdari.
