The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, through the Department of Industry and with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), within the continuation of the process for drafting the Strategy for the Development of Industry and Business Support 2030, held the workshop on the topic “Industrial growth, high value added products, national value chains”.
Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, was present at the meeting as well as the representative from the German Agency for International Cooperation, Edmond Gashi, and other representatives from the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, government institutions, businesses and local associations.
Initially, Minister Hajdari said that the Program of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, among the main priorities is the economic development of the country, re-orientation of the economy towards production and export, towards the increase of dignified employment for all, as well as towards sustainable development, which protects the environment for future generations as well.
In this context, Minister Hajdari stated that the main objective of the Industrial Policy is to support the growth and development of the production sector in Kosovo through actions aimed at expanding production output, creating jobs, improving export competitiveness, utilization and promoting economic circulation, and maximizing local benefits by fostering connections involving Kosovar suppliers and the country's resources, which will also include other sectors related to the manufacturing industry, such as ICT for the modernization/digitalization of industries, education for increasing skills of workers, etc.
"We aim to transform the country's industry into a more globally integrated industry that is able to produce high value-added products and provide decent employment, which we plan to achieve through deepening internal value chains, increasing and diversifying export products, improving the qualification of the workforce, an accelerated digitization of production and advanced technology for green production, as well as a better use of local natural resources and recycled materials. Of particular importance is the connection with the Diaspora, as well as the attraction of investments in the manufacturing industry" – emphasized Minister Hajdari.
The vision of MIET is to improve the competitiveness of enterprises, which we aim to achieve through the advancement of policies in the industry, investment, entrepreneurship and trade sectors and the improvement of quality infrastructure services, in such way that our enterprises are competitive in the region and beyond wide.
Industry Policy – The Strategy for Industry Development and Business Support 2030 is in line with the Government Program, the Objectives of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, and originates from the National Development Strategy (NDS) 2030. The Industrial Policy contributes to the three strategic objectives of NDS: a) Digital Economy; b) Circular and internationally competitive; c) High, decent and inclusive employment and d) Clean environment and better utilization of natural resources.
Collaboration with the business community and analysis of industrial sectors will help develop this evidence-based strategy for sectors with potential for industrial development, job creation and export growth.
