The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET) organized a discussion with local entrepreneurs and other stakeholders, with the topic: “Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Economic Growth”.
On the occasion of Global Entrepreneurship Week, MIET has organized this event to discuss with local entrepreneurs, industry associations and academia, regarding the policies and government support instruments for start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, considering that the private sector is the main contributor to sustainable economic growth.
The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, who since assuming the mandate, continuously worked for the rapid development of entrepreneurship in the Republic of Kosovo, said that the field of entrepreneurship is of great importance and decisive for the sustainable economic growth of the country.
‘I personally believe in you, our entrepreneurs, because you are the ones who can change the way we live and work. With your successes and revolutions, in addition to creating wealth from entrepreneurship, you also create jobs and conditions for a thriving society and stable economy in our Republic. Moreover, you are the technological innovation leaders, bringing to the market innovative products or services and new technology, that contributes to increasing your competitiveness in the market and achieving our goal of transforming the local industry into a more globally integrated industry', the Minister emphasized.
While the development of entrepreneurship promotes innovation, creates jobs and the contributions of entrepreneurs protect the social system, Minister Hajdari emphasized that the entrepreneurship development is the focus of the Program of the Government of Kosovo and the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade. Informing the audience about the national policy-making processes for industrial development, innovation and entrepreneurship under the MIET guidance, she pointed out that close and continuous exchange between politics and business is essential, especially now in these challenging times, as the socio-economic costs are becoming more and more visible, due to rising energy prices, disrupted supply chains, painful dependencies on raw materials, which our enterprises are experiencing directly.
In this event, the director of the Department of Industry, Mrs. Valbona Dushi, informed the participants in more details about the main industrial sectors analyzed from the perspective of the value chain; the director of the Department of Innovation, Mrs. Laura Zherka, informed them about drafting of the Law on Innovation and Entrepreneurship; while the head of KIESA Agency, Mr. Zef Dedaj informed them regarding the supporting instruments for start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises. During discussions with entrepreneurs, the UBT rector, prof. dr. Edmond Hajrizi, elaborated on the importance of the ecosystem concept and the great effect that this ecosystem can create in society.
Discussions by Minister Hajdari with colleagues and panel guests from academia, private sector and expertise for innovation and entrepreneurship from GIZ, with the entrepreneurs, continued with honest reflections on the issues raised regarding administrative barriers to doing business and advantages for creating structured and continuous collaborations between the public and private sectors, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of local enterprises and sustainable socio-economic development.
