The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET), Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, participated in the meeting of the National Council for Economy and Investment chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti.
In his speech, Prime Minister Kurti called on our most competitive businesses, business associations and projects funded by donors to continue and strengthen cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, aimed at developing strategic and operational plans that increase foreign direct investment and exports, as well as promote effective business development.
At the meeting, Minister Rozeta Hajdari briefed on the progress in the establishment of new industrial and technological parks, as well as the construction and functioning of economic zones certified many years ago, for use by local and foreign businesses. She emphasized that supporting the establishment of modern industrial and technological parks with environmentally friendly characteristics is one of the priority measures of the first Industrial Policy 2030.
There are 11 economic zones, namely industrial and technological parks, and a business incubator are established and certified in Kosovo, as listed below: Business Park in Drenas; Technological Park in Shtime; Industrial Park in Frasher, Mitrovica; Agro-Industrial Zone in Samadraxha, Suhareka; Industrial Park in Qylaga, Lipjan; Industrial Park in Budrika, Viti; Industrial Park in Shiroka, Suhareka; Industrial Park in Lumadh, Vushtrri; Industrial Park in Opterusha, Rahovec; Business Incubator in Malisheva; General Park in Livadica, Podujeva, newly established in April of this year; and Industrial Park 2 in Drenas whose construction is about to be finalized.
In addition to the construction and functioning of existing and new industrial and technological parks, Minister Hajdari added that other business incubators and innovation centers are in the process of being established within industrial and technological parks and public universities, aimed at developing the ecosystem for innovation and establishing structured collaborations between the private, public and academic sectors in the interest of industrial development and socio-economic transformation.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has allocated EUR 33 million of additional investment for the years 2024-2026 for the construction of other new industrial and technological parks, including business incubators.
