The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade (MIET), through the Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA), today signed agreements for the Product Certification and the Digital Empowerment Initiative grant scheme, from which a total of 39 enterprises have benefited, of which 19 are owned by women.
The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Rozeta Hajdari, stated that these grants will serve as an important boost for local enterprises to increase their capacity and take advantage of new opportunities in the market. All these support schemes are in line with the vision of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade (MIET) for a competitive, innovative, and more sustainable economy.
The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, through the Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA), on March 27, 2024, has launched the grant scheme for financing businesses for product certification and for the digital empowerment initiative. The companies benefiting from product certification are part of seven sectors of the strategy for industrial development, within the Industrial Policy 2030.
Meanwhile, within the Digital Empowerment Initiative Project, at the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade, through the Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA) and in cooperation with the Project “Enabling Income Generation for the Poor” (EnInGeP), funded by the Austrian Agency for Development and Cooperation (ADC), 33 companies for digital services in our country have benefited. It is also planned to support around 70 other enterprises.
“Structural transformation is the key dynamics that drives rapid economic growth; hence, in the function of industrial, commercial, and entrepreneurship policies, we are developing as many instruments and support schemes as possible. For the first time in Kosovo, MIET has drawn up an industrial policy with a clear vision up to 2030. There are seven production and processing sectors that are like rising stars for developing the global purchase chain. The Industrial Policy 2030 aims at the infrastructural transformation of the local industry into a more integrated global industry that is capable of producing products with high added value and increasing opportunities for decent employment for our youth”, stated Minister Hajdari.
“With the support of local enterprises, we intend to contribute to the growth of production and processing and the improvement of the trade balance through a high number exports. Through the product certification scheme, six companies that will sign the agreement today have benefited, and we plan to support 20 more companies. 33 enterprises for digital services in our country have benefited from the Digital Empowerment Project at the MIET through KIESA Agency. We plan to support another 70 enterprises”, stated Minister Hajdari.
The ceremony of signing the grant scheme agreements was attended by the following personalities: the Deputy Ambassador of Austria in Kosovo, Ms. Clarissa Castek, representatives of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), representatives of the “EnInGeP” Project, representatives of CARE International, and ECIKS.
