Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance intensifies field inspections on school textbook prices and copyright protection

This step is a measure to guarantee compliance with legal requirements and to prevent violations that may harm consumers as well as intellectual creativity.

The Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance has inspected over thirty (30) different economic operators engaged in this activity, and in all cases where violations of legal provisions have been identified, market inspectors have taken punitive measures in accordance with the applicable legislation.

With the aim of ensuring compliance with copyright, the Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance will continue in the coming days to conduct rigorous inspections of publishing houses and distributors to ensure that the circulation of school textbooks in the market is in line with the legislation in force on copyright and related rights.

Likewise, the Inspectorate will continue, in the coming days, to rigorously monitor the prices of school textbooks across the entire market, in order to guarantee that they are reasonable and in compliance with the rules of competition and consumer protection.

The Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance calls on all parties involved, including publishing houses and authors, to cooperate with the competent authorities in order to guarantee a fair and transparent market, by respecting the rights of authors and ensuring reasonable prices for school textbooks.
