The EA Multilateral Agreement is mutual recognition between national accreditation bodies that are members of this organization.
Through this agreement, the signatories recognize and accept the equivalence of each other’s accreditation systems, as well as the reliability of conformity assessment results, such as reports or certificates, issued by accredited bodies for certain fields.
The main purpose of this Agreement is to create trust among all stakeholders in the results of conformity assessment and to facilitate their acceptance in different markets. This is of great importance for the development of the industry and for businesses, as it avoids the need for the same products or services to go through repeated assessment processes in different countries.
As a result, this agreement directly impacts the competitiveness of products and services, reducing costs, eliminating technical barriers to trade and adding value to businesses and consumers.
The application for this agreement was preceded by a series of activities undertaken by DAK, including the full harmonization of accreditation procedures, policies and practices with those of the European Union, capacity building of internal and external staff, who are part of the accreditation assessment processes, as well as active engagement in the activities of the European co-operation for Accreditation. In this context, DAK has also contributed to the drafting of the European Accreditation Strategy 2030, being one of the few countries from the Western Balkans that have been involved in this process.
The process will continue with technical assessments by EA teams, as the next step towards signing the agreement, for which DAK is already making the necessary preparations.
DAK remains committed to the continuous advancement of the accreditation system in the country, in accordance with European and international standards. Through this process, it aims to support the local industry, increase the reliability of products and services, facilitate access to international markets and contribute to the economic development of the country.
