The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MINTI), through the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate (IQMT) and in cooperation with inspectors of the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), has intensified controls in the dairy products market with the aim of protecting consumers and increasing transparency in the market.
Within the framework of these activities, a total of 7 inspections have been carried out in 4 different cities of Kosovo. As a result, 6 cases are currently in procedure, while 1 case has been closed.
MINTI reminds all economic operators operating in the field of production, import, distribution and sale of dairy products that they are obliged to respect the legal requirements in force, namely Law no. 06/L-034 on Consumer Protection and Law no. 2004/18 on Internal Trade.
In this context, it is emphasized that:
- Each product must have a clear, legible and visible declaration in the official languages, specifying precisely its composition, namely whether it is:
- animal-based product (100%) (dairy),
- plant-based product, or
- powdered milk product.
- Retailers are obliged to ensure the clear separation and presentation of products on shelves, according to the relevant categories:
- animal-based products,
- plant-based products,
- powdered milk products.
MINTI, through IQMT, will continue to intensify inspections in the coming days, in accordance with the legal powers for market surveillance, in order to prevent fraudulent practices and guarantee fair information for consumers.
In case of non-compliance with the legal requirements for labeling and physical separation of products, economic operators will face punitive measures according to the legislation in force.
At the same time, all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo are invited to continue to report any irregularities identified in the market, including the lack of classification or clear declaration of the composition of products, by providing relevant evidence (such as photographs), through:
