Minister Kusari-Lila part of the international panel on geopolitical challenges and global order

At the panel, Minister Kusari-Lila discussed together with Kelly Craft, former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Kęstutis Budrys, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, and Emma Theofelus, Minister of Information, Communications and Technology of Namibia, in a debate moderated by Michael Brocker.

According to Kusari-Lila, the discussion focused on changes in the global order, the rise of multipolarity, and the influence of great power policies at a time when multilateralism is facing continued weakening.

She emphasized that the debate also addressed the role of international mechanisms in maintaining peace and preventing conflicts, as well as the impact of geopolitical changes on their functioning.

Minister Kusari-Lila stated that, despite the setbacks in the European integration process, the citizens of Kosovo continue to remain among the most pro-European peoples in the Balkans. She reiterated that the path towards the European Union remains the only strategic alternative for Kosovo.

During the discussion, she raised concerns about double standards towards small states, mentioning Kosovo in relation to the dialogue with Serbia and the lack of consequences for terrorist acts against Kosovo. According to her, such practices risk damaging citizens’ trust in the international order and the institutions that are supposed to protect it.

Kusari-Lila also emphasized that the European Union should not consider the Western Balkans as an external border, but as a natural part of the European project.

The panel also addressed global security developments, including the conflict with Iran, the exposure of the Baltic countries to threats from Russia, as well as challenges and crises on the African continent.
