The next meeting of the Consumer Protection Council was held, where the Draft Consumer Protection Program 2026–2030 was presented.
In addition to the agenda items, information was presented at this meeting regarding the actions of the Central Inspectorate for Market Surveillance, focused on monitoring the prices of fuels, electricity meters and plant-based dairy products on the market.
It is worth noting that the process of verifying the electricity meters of consumers who have filed complaints is continuing. In the last two days alone, 19 meters have been verified in the laboratory of the Metrology Agency, of which 7 have resulted without a validity period, while one meter was found to be without a type permit.
The official laboratory reports have been processed by the Central Inspectorate for Market Surveillance for the taking of legal measures and the imposition of fines against KEDS, in the amount of EUR 40,000.
The Consumer Protection Council has also discussed addressing cases as quickly as possible and ways to compensate consumers for damage.
The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation has taken a series of proactive measures to address consumer complaints over the last three months.
The 35% increase in the number of complaints, compared to the same period last year, is also considered an indicator of the increase in citizens’ institutional trust.
