The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, participated in the presentation of the Annual General Report on Inspections for 2025, compiled by the Office of the Inspector General within the Office of the Prime Minister, where the data and results of the work of inspectorates at the national level were presented.
The report also includes the work of the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate (CMSI), which operates within MIETI. Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that the Ministry’s inspectors are every day on site to protect the public interest, consumers and to guarantee the fair functioning of the market.
She announced that the Consumer Protection Program 2026–2030 is in the public consultation phase, while the first draft of the new Consumer Protection Law has been completed, with the aim of advancing the legal framework and strengthening the protection of citizens’ rights.
The Minister highlighted some of the main activities undertaken in recent months, including verifying the implementation of the decision on maximum prices for petroleum products, checking electricity meters to ensure accurate measurements, supervising the separation of animal-based and plant-based dairy products, inspections to prevent the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors, as well as joint actions with Kosovo Customs, Kosovo Tax Administration, Food and Veterinary Agency and Kosovo Police.
According to her, consumer protection remains an ongoing institutional responsibility, which is also evidenced by the work of the Department for Consumer Protection, which during the first half of this year alone has handled over 1,800 citizen complaints.
Kusari-Lila emphasized that MIETI will continue to strengthen market surveillance mechanisms, guaranteeing law enforcement, consumer protection and functioning of a fair and transparent market in the Republic of Kosovo.
