The Department for Consumer Protection within the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MIETI) has handled a total of 1,567 consumer complaints during the six-month period January-June 2026.
According to the report of the Department for Consumer Protection (DCP), the largest number of complaints concerns problems related to incorrect calculations of hours in electricity meters, warranty and return of goods, mismatch of shelf-cash prices in markets, online purchases and failure to deliver products according to the description provided.
The high volume of complaints from consumers shows that in a considerable number of cases, economic operators are not fully respecting the provisions of the Law on Consumer Protection and the guaranteed rights of citizens as consumers.
For this reason, MIETI considers it necessary to increase market surveillance and take additional measures to increase the level of respect for consumer rights throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
The complaints received have been handled in cooperation with competent institutions, including the Central Inspectorate of Market Supervision (CIMS), Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency (KFVA), Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK), Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications (ARKEP), Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) and Water Services Regulatory Authority (WSRA), according to their respective competencies.
MIETI remains committed to protecting consumer rights and calls on citizens to continue reporting any possible violations via +383 (0) 46 311 000 on Viber, as well as via email consumer@rks-gov.net.
