The Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate (CMSI), in the framework of the implementation of the operational plan for market surveillance, has today started the inspection action against businesses operating in the field of cryptocurrencies and exchanges.
Inspections were carried out in the municipalities of Prishtina, Gjilan, Gjakova, Prizren, Podujeva, Rahovec and Suhareka, in order to verify the fulfilment of the legal requirements for the exercise of this activity.
During the first day of the action, 16 businesses were inspected, where 6 entities were subject to the measure of prohibition of exercising their activity due to the lack of mandatory documentation, mainly the lack of consent for the fulfilment of the minimum technical conditions, and fines were imposed on 6 other businesses for the lack of legal documentation.
As part of the operational plan, CMSI will inspect over 268 businesses registered with the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (KBRA), which have a registered code for other monetary intermediations.
CMSI calls on all economic entities that exercise this activity to ensure the fulfilment of all legal requirements, by applying for the consent of the minimum technical conditions at the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET), as well as by obtaining the relevant license from the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), according to the legislation in force.
The Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate will continue the implementation of this action until the full completion of the operational plan, in order to guarantee the implementation of the law, protect the public interest and create a regulated, safe and equal market for all economic operators.
