The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, met with representatives of the Young Global Leaders Forum at the Innovation Centre Kosovo (ICK) to discuss Kosovo’s economic potential and opportunities to link the country’s economy with global markets.
The discussion focused on Kosovo’s economic development potential, highlighting its young and skilled labour force, growing private sector, diaspora, and an increasingly developed ecosystem for technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that the main challenge lies in transforming this potential into increased investment, quality jobs, and value-added products and services. She underlined that Kosovo must aim to compete not merely on labour costs, but above all through talent, technology, productivity, and innovation.
The meeting also addressed the challenges influencing investment decisions, including perceptions regarding security and reliability. In this context, emphasis was placed on the importance of showcasing to international partners not only Kosovo’s potential but also the concrete steps being taken to create a more favourable environment for business and investment.
Minister Kusari-Lila conveyed the message that Kosovo is open to investments and partnerships from across the globe, stressing that even countries that have not yet recognized the Republic of Kosovo are welcome to invest, form partnerships, and participate in the country’s economic development.
Young Global Leaders is a global network affiliated with the World Economic Forum that, since 2004, has brought together young leaders from politics, business, technology, academia, and other fields. The network creates opportunities for the exchange of ideas, collaboration, and the development of impactful initiatives, currently comprising over 1,400 leaders from more than 120 countries.
For Kosovo, connections to such network offer opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, creation of new partnerships, and attraction of investments.
In this regard, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation remains focused on creating opportunities to translate Kosovo’s potential into concrete results, integrating the digital economy into the country’s ongoing development.
