The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, visited the Municipality of Suhareka, where she met with Mayor Bali Muharremaj to discuss local production and business development.
During the visit, Minister Kusari-Lila also toured the Industrial Park in Shiroke, which currently hosts 56 businesses from various manufacturing sectors and employs approximately 2 thousand people.
At the company “Solid SH.P.K.,” the Minister was briefed by Ahmeti and Shefqet Kuqi on the shoe manufacturing process and the standards applied in their operations. Women make up about 80 percent of the company’s workforce, and the company has installed solar panels to generate clean energy.
Up to 75 percent of its products are exported to European markets and, more recently, to the United States.
Kusari-Lila also visited the company “Paradisa Glass and Stone,” where she met with its owner, Xhemajl Hajdari. After gaining work experience in Switzerland, Hajdari returned to Kosovo and, together with his sons, invested in the manufacturing of glass and marble products.
“WOOD CORPORATION L.L.C.” also operates within the Shiroka Industrial Park; it exports its products to Switzerland and Germany and employs over 400 workers. More than half of the company’s workforce consists of women and girls.
During the visit, Kusari-Lila emphasized the importance of increasing domestic production, expanding exports, and creating jobs, while also highlighting the significance of involving women and girls in the manufacturing sector.
During the visit, the Minister and representatives of the Municipality of Suhareka also discussed the maintenance of the Industrial Park in Shiroke, as well as the design and preparation of the Industrial Park in Duhel.
According to Kusari-Lila, this approach is based on Law No. 08/L-208 on Industrial and Technology Parks, which establishes a new framework for the administration and management of these spaces.
The Minister emphasized that the development of industrial parks, particularly those incorporating green components, aims to advance a more modern and sustainable model of industrial development.
In this regard, she announced that the first pilot project for a Green Industrial Park is expected to be launched soon in Gjakove.
