The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MIETI) clarifies public opinion regarding several articles published on portals, claiming that the acting minister Mimoza Kusari-Lila “preferred hotels with multiethnic motivation over Albanian ones” during the official visit to Kosovo of the State Secretary for European and International Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mr. Christian Wiermer.
This claim is untrue and constitutes misinformation.
First, it should be made clear that the event was not organized by MIETI nor by the acting Minister Kusari-Lila. It was organized by the Federal Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Prishtina, which also determined the location of the event. The Minister participated as a guest and respected the organization and protocol of the host.
Therefore, attributing the selection of the hotel to the minister or claiming that she “preferred” a hotel on ethnic grounds is a direct manipulation of the facts.
None of the portals that published these claims contacted MIETI, the minister, or the organizer – the German Embassy – to verify the information before publishing. This is especially problematic when it comes to a claim that could be easily verified.
MIETI emphasizes that ethnicity is not and has never been a criterion in the institutional activity of Minister Kusari-Lila, who continuously promotes local businesses without distinction and is committed to equal economic development throughout Kosovo.
Criticism is part of democracy, but reporting should be based on facts and verification, not insinuations and fabricated narratives.
The facts are clear: the event was organized by the German Embassy, not by MIETI or the minister; the location was selected by the Embassy. Any claim that presents this as the minister’s choice is disinformation and manipulation of the facts.
