Avni Kastrati
ACTING MINISTER OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (September-Octomber 2014)
Avni Kastrati (1948) is graduated Machinery Engineer- branch of production. His basic studies he has completed on 1976, at the Technical Faculty of Pristina. Over the passing year, he lectured at the technical high school “Boris Kidric” in Mitrovica, and then at the Technical Vocational High School – branch of Machinery, lecture of professional courses, one among few who lectured in Albanian language.
24 September 2014, Mr. Kastrati I appointed Acting Minister at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Mr. Kastrati is appointed as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Industry within the Government of Kosovo on March 2014.
Before he was appointed as Deputy Minister, Mr. Kastrati was Mayor of Mitrovica municipality, elected from the local elections of 2009. Before that he was engaged in Trepça’s complex as chief of machinery maintenance. For five years he was technical director in charge for domestic and international transportation of goods at “Trans Kosova”. After that he was engaged in "Trepça" in Chemical Industry Factory, as Maintenance Director and later in Process Equipment Factory in the position of General Director. After the 90’s he has been the owner and General Manager of LLC "Noring" in Mitrovica. After the war, until taking the post of Mayor of Mitrovica , he has been the General Manager and Owner of LLC "Oil-trade" in Mitrovica.
Mr. Kastrati has been a member of the Board of Kosovo Chamber of Commerce. Former President of the Association Friends of KPC in Mitrovica as founding member of the presidency of this association based in Pristina, member of the Presidency and Board of PDK branch in Mitrovica, chairman of the committee for drafting professional development projects for the proposed Donor Conference for Mitrovica, he provided constant financial support to the KLA, the "Friends of KPC" and donations to raise statues of martyrs of the KLA War.
He lives in Mitrovica with his wife Afërdita. He has a married son and daughter, who live in individual families, and from which he has 2 grandsons and 2 nieces.
