The National Council for Economic Development of Kosovo (NCEDK) organizes and coordinates activities of state institutions, aiming to eliminate barriers and address the challenges of doing business in the Republic of Kosovo, having an impact on improving the environment of business and investment in the Republic of Kosovo.
The National Council for Economic Development was established by the Decision 05/24 of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo.
The National Council for Economic Development (NCEDK) in the field of its activities includes the following:
- Initiates and coordinates inter-institutional activities towards the development of the National Development Plan and development projects, in accordance with best international practices.
- Initiates laws and bylaws, for the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, having an importance for economic development and the improvement of business environment and analyzes existing legislation and the need for improvements.
- Approves operational plans on business and investment environment improvement.
- Initiates consultations and cooperation with potential strategic investors.
- Presents to the Government reports on the implementation of the operational plan on business environment.
- Cooperates with international organizations and institutions regarding the exchange of experiences and provision of recommendations on business environment improvement.
- Prepares analysis on development opportunities and comparative advantages of Kosovo in cooperation with the departments of different Ministries;
- Supports strengthening and the role of the business community in the process of economic development of the country.
Coordinates and monitors implementation of the Action Plan for the Implementation of Economic Development Vision (APED).
NCEDK functions according to Regulation no. 01/2015 approved by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Administrative and technical work of the Council is carried out by the Secretariat of the Council, which functions within the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Members of the National Council for Economic Development are the Ministries of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, which have economic orientation and Economic Business Associations in Kosovo.
