Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, hosted in a meeting the non-resident Canadian ambassador to Kosovo, Daniel Maksymiuk, where they discussed on deepening the cooperation and on developments in the country.
Minister Shala informed Ambassador Maksymiuk about the priorities of MTI and the possibility for the Canadian state to invest in Kosovo in the field of mines and minerals.
“It is an honour and a pleasure to host you in the meeting, because Kosovo considers Canada more than an allied state. I am continuing with the fulfilment of the plans of the Government of Kosovo, which are foreseen for this year, while increasing the dynamics in each area. Within this line I have identified my priorities in which I think to focus more on consumer protection, attracting foreign investment, because the ministry that I run also implements the Law on Strategic Investment and the improvement of the quality of products in the market that are offered to our citizens. Also, my focus is on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and supporting local producers and promoting export, "said Minister Shala.
During this meeting it was discussed also about the Canadian investment opportunities in the mining sector, where Ambassador Maksymiuk expressed the readiness of this country's businesses to invest in Kosovo for the economic development of Kosovo.
Minister Shala urged the ambassador to encourage Canadian businesses to invest in Kosovo by expressing readiness for full support, showing the commitment of each institution to be a lawyer of businesses willing to invest.
