The Central Inspectorate of Market Supervision (CIMS) has expanded its inspection campaign to prevent the sale of tobacco products to minors and to combat their illegal trade.
In addition to controls on the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors, especially near educational institutions, inspections now also include the control of the sale of regular cigarettes in category B and C markets.
The purpose of this action is to prevent the illegal sale of tobacco products, including cases where the relevant documentation is missing or the origin of the products is not declared.
Today alone, CIMS has carried out 10 inspections in the Dukagjini Area, respectively in Gjakova and Peja. As a result of the inspections so far, 2 orders have been issued to eliminate irregularities.
According to the Consumer Protection Law, businesses that sell tobacco products to minors can be fined between 1,000 and 10,000 euros.
Meanwhile, for the lack of documentation and failure to declare the origin of tobacco, according to the Law on the Central Inspectorate of Market Supervision, fines ranging from 3,000 to 9,000 euros are foreseen.
