The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, and the Mayor of the Municipality of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi, have laid the cornerstone for the construction of the Industrial Park in the village of Livadicë, Podujeva, just one month after signing the cooperation agreement between MIETI and the Municipality of Podujeva.
The Industrial Park constitutes an important investment for the economy of the Llapi region and for businesses that have already expressed great interest in investing and expanding their activity in this new park.
The Industrial Park will cover an area of about 30 hectares, while the investment for its construction amounts to over 3 million euros. The project is expected to be completed within 350 working days, creating a new and modern space for the development of businesses and industry.
The park will be built in harmony with environmental protection standards and green transition principles.
In the next five years, the vision of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation is to develop 16 industrial parks throughout Kosovo, with an investment exceeding 50 million euros.
The development of new industrial parks is integrating green industrial park standards, circular economy principles, and the concept of industrial symbiosis.
This approach means that businesses within a park do not operate as isolated units, but create opportunities for collaboration and more efficient use of resources. One business may use the waste or by-products of another business as raw materials, while several businesses may share infrastructure, energy, waste treatment systems or other services. In this context, the aim is to use water, energy and raw materials as efficiently as possible.
In this way, the circular economy becomes a mechanism for reducing costs and increasing the competitiveness of businesses. This is especially important for local enterprises, which must compete not only in the Kosovo market, but also in regional and European markets.
To this end, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation is advancing cooperation with the World Bank and IFC, with the aim of bringing international expertise to the planning, development and management of industrial parks.
The Podujeva Industrial Park is part of the vision for the development of a modern and sustainable network of industrial parks in the municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, with the clear aim of creating more investment opportunities, increasing local production, expanding exports and creating new jobs.
This project represents not only an investment in infrastructure, but also an investment in a new model of economic development, where industry, innovation and environmental protection go hand in hand.
