Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, founded last year, will be the only accreditation organization at the global level.
Membership in this organization offers several benefits, such as: access and opportunities to contribute to the development of global accreditation policies and technical requirements; development of the national accreditation system to achieve the status of a multilateral recognition agreement at the international level; building relationships with accreditation organizations of other countries recognized at the global level and key stakeholders in conformity assessment; learning from the experiences of implementing accreditation recognition agreements signatories, accelerating internal development towards international recognition of local accreditation; participation as a member in technical committees that develop procedures, guidelines and accreditation policies applicable worldwide; participation in peer review discussions, opportunities to gain knowledge on accreditation recognition processes and receive mentoring from existing signatories; increased visibility and importance of accreditation among governments, regulatory agencies, industries and other stakeholders, providing a credible basis for working towards achieving compliance with domestic and international regulations.
As part of this cooperation, participation is also enabled in training programs, workshops and webinars, designed to strengthen accreditation systems.
The potential benefits of membership in this organization are: strengthening international subjectivity and credibility, which demonstrates the commitment of the General Directorate of Accreditation to international standards and recognition; Creating global connections, by networking with internationally recognized accreditation organizations and stakeholders; knowledge from other practices, having access to best practices and policy knowledge and technical expertise from signatories of accreditation recognition agreements (MRAs) worldwide; preparation for the recognition agreement, which means learning the processes and expectations and requirements to achieve the status of signatory of the Accreditation Recognition Agreement at the global level; capacity building, which means benefiting from technical trainings and workshops, international accreditation events and bilateral mentoring opportunities; creating opportunities for cooperation, by collaborating with counterpart Accreditation organizations on joint projects and technical exchanges.
This process is of particular importance for the local economy, given the fact that accreditation is the catalyst for sustainability, and can be considered the passport of products and services in the process of export to international markets.
The role in the local market is that accreditation certifies the quality in the production and service process, as well as safety for consumers. This is achieved by confirming the implementation of relevant international standards in these processes by operators.
