Deputy Minister of Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mentor Arifaj, participated in the closing ceremony of the grant project by the European Union at the factory “Proton Cable”, in Prizren.
Deputy Minister Arifaj stated that Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade is drafting the strategy on the development of Industry and business support 2030 (industrial policies). According to Arifaj, main objective of the Industrial Policy is to support the growth and development of the production sector in Kosovo through actions aiming to increase production, create jobs, improve export competitiveness, utilize and promote economic circulation, and maximize domestic benefits.
“We aim to transform the country's industry into a more globally integrated industry capable to produce high value-added products and provide decent employment, which we plan to achieve through deepening internal value chains, growth and diverse export products, improve qualification of the manpower, an accelerated digitization of production and advanced technology of green production, as well better use of national natural resources and recycled materials", said Arifaj.
Deputy Minister has emphasized that the strategy for the development of industry is being drafted in cooperation with relevant actors, such are government institutions, University, NGOs, private sector and Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo.
“In order to have a clear picture of the development of industry, value chain studies have been made which enable identification of missing links, the main gaps and constraints along the value chain, as well to identify competing products or group of products of these sectors, on determining adequate support measures for further growth and development", stated Arifaj.
Arifaj mentioned that cooperation with business community and analysis of industrial sectors will help Government of Kosovo in the development of this evidence-based strategy on sectors with industrial development potential.
