Deputy Minister Arifaj participates in the opening of the International Tourism Fair in Kosovo

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Arifaj emphasized the importance of tourism development and the commitment of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade to strengthen this sector and the tourism industry in the country.

Arifaj said that Kosovo's potential in offering a variety of tourist attractions, starting from historical and cultural cities, very beautiful nature, historical and cultural monuments, traditional cuisine, skiing centers, and much more can amaze our visitors.

In front of those present at the fair, he also spoke about the trend in the number of tourists that has increased from year to year like never before, in particular the number of overnight stays, mentioning the impressive increase of 50% in the number of visitors to Kosovo in January of this year compared to the same month last year.

Deputy Minister Arifaj said that with the aim of developing tourism, in addition to the Law on Tourism, for the first time in the Republic of Kosovo, a total of 4 sub-legal acts have been approved for the activities of tourist guides; activities of travel agencies; tourist services of active and adventure tourism and the tourism registry.

In addition to the law and sub-legal acts, we drafted the 2024-2030 Tourism Strategy and the 2024-2026 Action Plan, with the aim of developing cultural and natural tourism on a competitive basis and with an impact on socio-economic development and employment growth, added Mr. Arifaj.

The International Tourism Fair was supported by the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade (MIET), through the Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA) and was organized by the Union of Tourism in Kosovo.
