By the invitation of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the delegation of the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, Deputy Minister Getoar Mjeku, paid a visit to Budapest from 7-10 December.
Part of the delegation were also Mrs. Agnesa Jashari, advisor to the First Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Melita Shabani, Deputy Head of Investment Promotion Division, and Mr. Uliks Spaqi, communication consultant.
The aim of the visit was to find new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation between Hungary and the Republic of Kosovo as well as for seeing successful model of Hungary, the promotion of foreign investment and export support.
Deputy Minister Mjeku was received in separate meetings by the two Deputy State Secretary Dr. István Balogh, in charge of security, and Mr. István Joó, in charge for exports and investments. Mr. Mjeku also met with the director of the trade policy department, Mr. Zoltán Lédig, and the director of the department of joint economic commissions, Mrs. Martina Krasnyk, who oversees the Kosovo-Hungary commission.
The Kosovar delegation further visited the Export-Import Bank of Hungary, the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, as well as the National Research, Development and Innovation Office.
In the business community, Deputy Minister Mjeku met with the Association of Hungarian Automotive Component Manufacturers MAJOSZ and visited the company Agrometal to see the innovation in the dairies and beverage processing industry. The Kosovar delegation was also received by the Western Balkans Green Center, which supports efforts to protect the climate and environment in the region.
In the meetings, Deputy Minister Mjeku emphasized the advantages and protection offered to foreign investments in the Republic of Kosovo, while the Hungarian side expressed its readiness to support companies that invest in Kosovo. The two sides agreed to continue efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation and to prepare for the next meeting of the Joint Economic Commission, which is expected to be held in the second half of 2022, under the co-chairmanship of Minister Hajdari and Secretary of State Péter Sztáray. .
During the visit, our delegation was accompanied by Mrs. Gjeneza Budima, designated Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, and Mr. Albert Kuqi, consular at the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo.
