Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, hosted in a meeting the French Ambassador to Kosovo, Didier Chambert, where it was discussed about the deepening of cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Shala has presented the MTI priorities, which according to him, will be in line with government policies.
“I will focus more on what is seen as the greatest concerns of Kosovo's citizens. In consumer protection, market control and growth of foreign investments, that is by working hard to improve the conditions, "said Minister Shala.
Minister Shala emphasized that he has engaged all MTI staff to fulfill the criteria set out in the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA).
“What is the key and the condition, not only of the ministry that I manage but of the entire Kosovo government, is the fulfillment all the SAA criteria”.
The Minister urged the Ambassador to support the increase of trade exchanges between Kosovo and France, particularly in the field of agriculture, assisting local producers.
“Kosovo has good products which are worthy to be exported to France. Exporting Kosovo products means opening up new jobs and economy empowerment”.
Shala talked also about tourism, explaining to the ambassador that the tourism office from the division it has been enhanced into department.
“The Concept Document on the Law on Tourism has passed and we have signed several agreements for the promotion of tourism and we are in ongoing discussions with different companies and it is the request of the operators especially in Europe to increase our presence and promote Kosovo in your country" said minister Shala.
Ambassador Chambert has expressed readiness to assist the Ministry of Trade and Industry in boosting foreign investments, pointing out to a giant project that is expected to be launched soon in the field of renewable energy.
“One of the key elements is the development and strengthening of economic relations and the growth of French investments in Kosovo. A French company has expressed readiness to invest in the field of renewable energy. The company has a 120m-euro investment project of a wind power plant park that would produce 80 megawatts of power and the number of employees would range from 150 to 200", said the French ambassador to Kosovo, Chambert.
Minister Shala expressed readiness to support the launching of this project, emphasizing that I will engage with all my capacities for this investor to have the best conditions in Kosovo.
