Government Decision paves the way for the Industrial Zone in Gjakovë

In today’s meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, a decision was taken to remove the former enterprises “Metaliku” and “Virxhinia” in the municipality of Gjakovë from the administration of the Kosovo Privatization Agency, and to transfer them to the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MIETI).

The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, stated that this decision paves the way for the creation of an Industrial Zone in Gjakovë, a project that has been discussed for more than a decade.

According to her, this step finalizes a long institutional process aimed at utilizing existing spaces for industrial development and creating conditions for new investments.

She further emphasized that within the first 100 days of the Government, important decisions have been adopted for two municipalities with strong industrial potential, Gjakovë and Gjilan.

“I am extremely pleased that, within the first 100 days of the Government, we managed to secure approved decisions for Gjakovë and Gjilan—two municipalities with strong potential for industrial development, new production capacities, and access to new regional and European markets,” Minister Kusari-Lila stated.

According to her, these decisions are part of a broader approach to economic development and to improving the well-being of citizens across the country..
