The Minister of Trade and Industry, Bajram Hasani today has signed an agreement with the Mayor of Vitia, Sokol Halitin, to finance the economic zone in this city worth over two million euros.
Hasani said that the whole project will be funded by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, adding that there are still some details to be finalized before the project start implementing.
Today, together with the Mayor of Vitia, Mr. Sokol Haliti, we signed the agreement on financing the Economic Zone by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the ministry leaded by me took over to finance whole project, due to the municipality budgetary limitation. We reached a framework agreement on the project that very soon we will receive the project submitted by the Mayor, while we will make a revision and specify the details of the project, which amounts to about two million Euros, “said Hasani.
The Minister stressed that they are interested that as soon as possible bring in to life this economic zone, because of the interests of businesses. According to Mr. Hasani, this economic zone will also have a special space for foreign investors that will come in Kosovo.
"We are very interested that as soon as possible make reality this economic zone in Vitia, since is the interest of business community as well, and because we are expecting investors to come from abroad, and we will give them a special locations. You are aware that we just have passed the Law on Strategic Investments and there are few businesses that already have applied for strategic investors statues, so after gaining the status, why not to locate them in the economic zone of Vitia, "said the minister.
Hasani has also called the Mayor of Gjilan, Lutfi Haziri, to allocate the location for Economic Zone, by foreseeing investment of above 5 million.
"Today I am using this opportunity to call the Mayor of Gjilan, Mr. Lutfi Haziri, for allocating the location as soon as possible so the investments could be done in Gjilan as well. We are considering an investment of over 5 million euros to make in Gjilan as well, because it is a bigger region. Mayor Haliti congratulates me on this investment and I believe that this belongs to the municipality, since they have been ready for it and to reactive all benefit of this investment, furthermore, they have met all requirements and have stand by us during the whole process,” said Minister Hasani.
Meanwhile, Mayor of Vitia, Sokol Haliti, said that this economic zone will help many businesses to operate and will include the three cities that could gravitate.
"I am honored to have today the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Bajram Hasani, together with his excellent cabinet who are doing a good job. I would like to thank the Minister for signing the agreement for implementation of whole project, which is very necessary and we wanted to have an economic zone. The project includes the highway of Vitia, Gjilan and connects Ferizaj. Indeed, it is an economic zone that will help economic development. It will absorbs foreign and domestic investments, especially the diaspora. We believe that this economic zone will be a model of reorganization of investors and, of course, rounding up the production-processing process. Our goal is to make local and regional economic development ", said Haliti.
