The minister of Trade and Industry, Bajram Hasani, on the occasion of the World Day of Metrology said that the metrology is among the main pillars of MTI, due to its activity.
Hasani at a conference, organized by MTI for World Day of Metrology, emphasized that since he was appointed as minister he paid a grate attention to the metrology.
"We are very firm for metrology to play its role, since it is one of the main pillars because does the measurement, calibration and because of the importance that has the metrology, accreditation and standardization which areas always needs for stronger support. In this regard, we are committed to approximate and harmonize our legislation frame with the European Union, to create a better quality infrastructure, where our businesses will be competitive in foreign markets, "Hasani said.
Hasani has announced that the law on this agency has entered into force and envisages 35 administrative instructions and, according to him, concrete work is being done.
"The Law on Meteorology has entered into effect last week and envisages 35 administrative instructions for what we believe that very soon will be established working groups. We are determined to push forward and the law will be fully applicable. We also thank the European Commission for the support given through technical assistance to the meteorology, accreditation and standardization. We are waiting to start concrete work with a World Bank project that has started which will soon start investing in relevant laboratories. The project is worth $ 14.3 million and part of this amount will go to meteorology. This shows that we have paid lot of attention to metrology, because the quality infrastructure is a key area, "said Hasani during the conference.
The Minister underlined that Kosovo's metrology system is part of the national technical quality infrastructure.
"The quality of metrology services is confirmed by accreditation which is the base for the quality of Kosovar products and services. Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Kosovo Metrology Agency through our goals and policies aims to build metrology system and thus provide the most advanced and quality metrology services through the existing laboratories that are under the AMK’s management”, stated Hasani.
