The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Faton Thaçi, at the conference hold today with subject: “Promoting Private Sector Employment” said that thank to the representatives of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), for up-today cooperation in promoting private sector employment, in regard to what we have pasted the first phase of the project/agreement and having in mind the importance of private sector as key factor for driving economic development, the government of Kosovo, respectively the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the last two years, in the frame of cooperation of joint activities, through the Promotion Agency KIESA and PPSE project have organized fairs such as the Slow Food in Cyrih and SIAL Food Fair in Paris.

Thaçi thanked the Swiss Ambassador Mr. Lebet, for further cooperation in encouraging employment in the private sector and the constant help given to Kosovo by the Helvetic state.
Thaci said that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, specifically MTI, has focused its policy toward economic development support, stimulation mechanisms and legal support in benefit to private sector development and attracting foreign investments, as the main generator of economic growth, employment and poverty elimination.
Furthermore, Thaci said that the MTI’ objectives during this phase will be to support private sector in production area, for what, we as a ministry, are giving a special attention by taken tangible steps on drafting the necessary legislation conforming to the EU rules, by facilitating the business environment in the Republic of Kosovo starting from business registration, fiscal facilities and safeguards measures for these producers. All of this steps are done to create opportunities for businesses, so they could have enough space to develop their business and generate new jobs.
Among other, Thaci emphasized the MTI's objectives for the strategic future which are oriented toward:
- SMEs and private sector development, promotion and foreign investments,
- Improve and facilitate free movement of goods and regulation of internal market, and
- Trade policy advancement.
Deputy Minister Thaçi introduced also MTI goal that contributes to future economic development, such as:
- Development of private sector competitiveness through industry development and improvement of doing business environment,
- Industry development by supporting key sectors that increase productivity and export,
- Development of economic zones,
- Advancement of access to finance for businesses,
- Advancement of tourism policy,
- Stimulation and encouragement of investments and exports,
- Tourism promotion,
- Promote export by preparing MSMEs for export, and identification/development of new potential markets,
- Development and promotion of legal framework and membership into the European and International relevant organizations,
- Further harmonization of national legislation with the EU one in field of quality infrastructure including consumer protection and market surveillance,
- Business and consumer awareness in regard to the quality infrastructure role and importance.
