Market Inspectorate, which operates within the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, during 2022 has carried out 2,830 inspections of Economic Operators in the private sector who operate throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, of which 1,453 were carried out by inspectors for control of the oil market, 732 were carried out by product safety inspectors, while 663 were carried out by general market supervision inspectors.
From the number of complaints handled, it was found that in 74% of cases they were considered based and resolved in favour of consumers. In 23% of cases, after treatment by the inspectors, it turned out that the complaints were un-based. While in 3% the complaints were rejected because they were not complete with necessary documentation, and the same were considered as valuable information for the Inspectorate.
Consumer complaints were mainly about non-compliance of shelf-cashier prices, non-respect of guarantees, the lack of a label that shows the flag of origin of the product, fraudulent price reductions, frauds during online purchases, the weight of bread, etc.
We also received complaints regarding the lack of a label indicating the product's flag of origin, and in this case inspections were carried out throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. The inspections are continuing every day in cooperation with the municipal market inspectors, and especially the number of inspections has increased now that we are close to the year holidays.
It is worth mentioning that during the governing mandate in the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade from Minister Rozeta Hajdari, the percentage of inspections has gone up to 67%, with a total of 5432 inspections of Economic Operators.
