The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET) of the Republic of Kosovo, Getoar Mjeku, and the Minister of Tourism and Environment (MTE) of the Republic of Albania, Mirela Kumbaro entered an agreement for a Joint Digital Platform for the promotion of tourism of the two countries,
On behalf of MIET, the agreement was signed by Deputy Minister Mjeku, as Minister Rozeta Hajdari is participating in the EFTA Ministerial meeting in Borgarnes, Iceland, where she presented the launch of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and EFTA countries.
This agreement between the two ministries from both countries is part of the objectives in the field of international cooperation in the field of Tourism to create a joint digital platform of information and tourism promotion.
The conclusion of this agreement is important for the Republic of Kosovo, as it aims to further develop the cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania in order to deepen and strengthen relations based on common interests in the field of tourism.
Deputy Minister Mjeku said that they are working on introducing a perfect tourist offer in order to achieve the tourism potentials that Kosovo and Albania have.
"We have already adopted a new law on tourism, which takes into consideration the infrastructure, and we are also working to improve the tourist offer thanks to our nature and heritage. Despite the progress, our two countries can reach our full potential in the field of tourism, as in other areas, only by cooperating closely and complementing each other – as part of one nation.
The platform will present our two countries as a joint target with the proper information for tourist attractions. First of all, it will serve the citizens of both countries and will inform foreign visitors, who increasingly are choosing to spend their holidays in the Albanian space. So together we expand and strengthen our space by using it", said Mjeku.
Whereas Ms. Mirela Kumbaro, Minister of Tourism and Environment of Albania, said that Albania has not only the sea but also nature and mountains and the depth of the territory with extraordinary cultural and natural resources.
"Mountains are something that we share, but let me reiterate once more that we also share the two seas, the Adriatic and the Ionian seas. Therefore, we need to consider the tourist map as a joint map where the border actually would be meaningless", Kumbaro said.
Both ministries from both countries will make sure that this platform is implemented on their official promotional sites, in order to provide information for tourists and orient them towards natural destinations and attractions, tourist and cultural sites, providers of tourism services, cross-border products, etc., supporting the development and promotion of the joint tourist offer of the two countries.
