Kosovo and Montenegro sign a memorandum of cooperation in the field of strategic goods control

The Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Economy of Montenegro have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of strategic goods control in order to strengthen the cooperation in the field of controlling the trade of weapons, military equipment, conventional weapons, mass destruction weapons, as well as the export of dual-use goods.

The Memorandum was signed at secretary level, highlighting the need to make progress in exchanging information and experiences on issues of international transfer on controlling strategic goods.

Minister of Trade and Industry Endrit Shala emphasized that this memorandum is another step forward in deepening cooperation between Kosovo and Montenegro, adding that such memorandums will be made with other neighbouring countries as well.

Meanwhile, the secretary of MTI, Burim Rreci has emphasized the readiness of the Ministry of Trade and Industry for cooperation in the field of strategic goods, which is also an obligation by the European Union.

He stressed that it should be emphasised the great role of the US Embassy, namely the EXBS program, where without their support and assistance we would not have been where we are today.

Rreci said that strengthening the border control is an interest of the state of Kosovo, such an agreement has been reached with Albania too.

 "Such agreement, we have signed with Albania, and soon we will sign it with Croatia and Macedonia too," said Reci.

Whereas, Milan Srzentic, state secretary at the Ministry of Economy in Montenegro, emphasized that this memorandum is of special importance for the two states on strengthening the cooperation and border control.
