The Minister of Trade and Industry, Vesel Krasniqi, replied to the Secretary of State of Serbia, Olivera Jocic, who in a virtual meeting of CEFTA signatory members opposed that Kosovo be treated as a state.
Minister Krasniqi opposed, making her understand that Kosovo is an independent and democratic state, recognized by the most powerful and developed countries in the world.
"It hardly matters whether Serbia recognizes us. We are trying to have reports of a good neighbourhood. But you should know that Kosovo is an independent and democratic state, as such it is recognized by the most powerful states in the world. Therefore, my requests as a minister, for Kosovo to be treated as such, are legitimate and stable ", declared Minister Krasniqi.
Minister Krasniqi in this meeting also reiterated the request to remove the name UNMIK-Kosovo and write it only the Republic of Kosovo.
"I made the request for the removal of the name UNMIK-Kosovo in the meetings I had in Brussels, in the CEFTA Secretariat and I am repeating it in this meeting too that Kosovo is an independent state and as such to be treated by all members of CEFTA", said Minister Krasniqi.
The head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry also asked all members to respect CEFTA agreement, with special emphasis on Serbia, which is causing trouble to Kosovo businesses and goods when they transit through Serbia.
So far, the conformity mark, according to the CEFTA (CE) agreement, is not being implemented by the state of Serbia, thus I would like to inform you that in order to implement the agreement we will take measures and only those goods that have the CE conformity mark will enter into the state of Kosovo", declared at the end Minister Krasniqi.
