Kosovo is initiating negotiations today on the trade in services chapter with the EFTA countries, becoming the first country in the Western Balkans to do so

After a lengthy negotiation process for the Free Trade Agreement regarding the trade of goods between the Republic of Kosovo and the EFTA member states, the Minister of Industry, Enterprise and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, greeted and thanked the delegation of the negotiating parties today for initiating the first round of negotiations for trade in services between the Republic of Kosovo and the EFTA member states – Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Finalizing this agreement as soon as possible is crucial for Kosovo, as trade exchanges with EFTA countries, especially Switzerland and Norway, are steadily increasing and have a significant positive trade balance for goods and services.

Through this agreement, Kosovo and the EFTA countries will enhance cooperation in key areas to strengthen trade relations. This includes investment flows, technology transfer, competition policy and law, public procurement, trade, sustainable development, and other trade-related issues and policies, now encompassing trade in services.
