The Kosovo Standardisation Agency on Tuesday has celebrated The World Standardisation Day. The event has become a traditional celebration for the Kosovo Standardisation, while in around the world is marked in different ways.
During the event organized on this occasion, Acting Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Avni Kastrati, stated that this day is historically marked as ISO day, he expressing his believe that Kosovo is successfully integrating itself into these quality infrastructures flows, same as regional countries. “Ministry of Trade and Industry has paid a particular attention for standardisation, accreditation, metrology, consumer protection, and to market surveillance, by improving these structures into higher level and aiming to met the SAA requirements”, said Kastrati.
He emphasized that so far we are satisfied with harmonization of national legislation with the EU legislation, the supplementary bylaws are completed for enforcement of these laws, a number of EU directives has been transposed for many areas that are with priority and in competency of MTI. “Kosovo Standardisation Agency already has adapted 700 European standards as Kosovo standards, always by respecting standardisation norms set by European Standardisation Committee. Standard processing to in technical committees KSA has converted into electronic version by aiming to make easier access for interested parties. Also can be said the Standardisation Agency meets quite well the Kosovo demands, because the EU standards are adapted as national standards. This Agency thank to MTIs competent structures have organized promotional campaigns for public awareness on how affects standards in the country economy”, pointed out minister Kastrati.
MTI’s Acting Minister, Avni Kastrati said that the message of today event is: “standards set the same rules for all” and by this we understand that the standards allow fair and equal competition for all businesses. Also the previous anniversary has had a significant message: “One Europe, one standard”. Surveys have shown that most of Kosovars are pro-European people, and our goals are to join economically and politically this continent, where we belong, "has finished his speech Kastrati.
While, Hafiz Gara, Chef-Executive at the Kosovo Standardisation Agency (KSA) said that KSA celebrates the ISO anniversary for many years now, aim of what is to bring together businesses and give them a chance to express their concerns, gather various Technical Committees (TC) and businesses and give a chance to IC to give their recommendations and suggestions for further standardisation development. “Among most important Standards norms are the transparency, consensus and public discussions, and ASK is trying to bring in life these norms”, said Gara and added that “during these 9 years we have tried to improve the standardization system, because we intend to join European Union”.
Further he emphasized that in the focus of KSA is adaptation of International and European Standards as Kosovo standards. “Drafting pure and own national standards didn’t happen in none of post-communist neighbouring countries, since all transitional countries are competing who will join EU first, and EU is requiring adaptation of 80% of the CEN standards, and 100% of those aligned standards”, he pointed out.
At the end of the event were made several presentations Kosovo achievements on standards.
