Market Inspectorate action: two shops selling mobile phones closed

The Market Inspectorate of the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade together with the Kosovo Police (Regional Unit for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption) have carried out inspections in the shops selling mobile phones in Prishtina.

During this action, 31 shops selling mobile phones were inspected, in which case 118 smartphones, 3 tablets (iPod), 11 pairs of headphones (Air pods) were confiscated.

In addition, one shop was closed by the Market Inspectorate due to lack of documentation (unregistered business), while another shop's operation was temporarily banned until the situation is fully verified.

The purpose of this action was the suspicion of smuggling of goods, tax evasion and evasion of the payment of mandatory customs fees.

The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, namely the Market Inspectorate, prioritizes the fight against informality, the elimination of unfair trade practices and consumer protection, therefore it will continue with to conduct such actions in the future.
